Everyone has something to give. Everyone has something to learn. Together, these attributes create the foundation for mentoring — learning through others to enable individuals to achieve their full potential.
This campaign was originally initiated in 2002, to promote youth mentoring in the United States. Since then, the campaign has grown with other areas of mentoring joining the cause. We all believe in the positive effects of mentoring. As author John C. Maxwell said, “One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.”

There’s a lot of buzz around mentoring lately, but that doesn’t mean mentoring is simply a passing fad. So what’s the big deal? Mentoring is quickly becoming one of the go-to methods for increasing employee engagement, development and retention. Over 70 percent of Fortune 500 companies offer corporate mentoring programs to their employees.
